The DMD KC Events are free of charge to any individual with a disability living in the Kansas City metro area. Register in advance, by the deadline (when announced), to receive a free lunch. Dates for the Kansas and Missouri Events are listed above.
If you are a person with a disability pursuing employment, these events gives you an excellent opportunity to:
- Increase and enhance your job readiness skills.
- Network with employers to learn about different types of careers.
- Visit with service organizations on how they can help you in your job search.
- Learn about entrepreneurship.
At these events, you are encouraged to make the most of this opportunity by preparing ahead of time.
Professional attire is strongly recommended.
- Come with a positive, upbeat attitude. This is your chance to shine brightly.
- Network and meet as many new people as you can. Networking is a valuable tool when searching for work.
- Bring multiple copies of your resume to share.
DMD KC Schedule (For Kansas and Missouri Events):
8:00 am – 8:30 am Same Day Registration and Check-In for Job Seekers, Employers and Service Organizations
8:30 am – 10:30 am Mock Interviews, Resume and Application Assistance
8:30 am – 10:30 am Visit with Employers, Service Organizations and Government Agencies
10:30 am – 10:35 am Welcome and Introductions
10:35 am – 11:15 am Job Seeker Session 1
11:20 am – 12:00 pm Job Seeker Session 2
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Lunch (Advance registration REQUIRED to assure a free lunch and accommodations!)
12:00 pm – 1:00 pm Mock Interview, Resume/Application Assistance if needed
1:00 pm Event Ends, Turn in Evaluations
Individual Help Sessions:
From 8:30 – 10:30 am, 10-minute individual sessions will be available for registered attendees for “Mock Job interviews” and “Resumé/Application Assistance” will be offered. Please indicate on the registration form your interest in participating. Please bring a resumé. You may also bring written questions for the interviewer. Dress appropriately as if it were a real job interview.
Please note: DMD KC is a public event, open to the media. Photographers and video camera may be present at either event.
